I am a creative, ambitious energy justice advocate who is passionate about renewable energy policy and advancing just transition goals in the United States. As a climate cartoonist, published author, and award-winning editorial writer, I firmly believe that climate communication—and the intersection of science, art, and rhetoric—is a central component of enacting evidence-based policy change.I received my Master's Degree in Environmental Economics & Policy at Duke University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science & Policy. My career goal is to foster and advance collaboration on creative climate solutions. I am the author of the book “Growing Up in the Grassroots: Finding Unity in Climate Activism Across Generations,” published in 2020. Throughout my work, I strive to bring together different generations of diverse stakeholders.As an Assistant Director at the Rachel Carson Council, I organize with environmental justice groups in North Carolina to expose the harmful effects of the wood pellet industry and coal ash on southeastern communities. Trained in conflict resolution and appointed a 2019 Huang Fellow in science communication, I have delivered public comments to the NCDEQ and created a series of op-eds and workshops. Additionally, I've written for the Nicholas Institute for Energy, Environment, and Sustainability, where I researched the Inflation Reduction Act’s implementation and key provisions on mineral supply chains, domestic manufacturing, and equitable transitions for communities.In addition to my energy work, I am the founder of the Environmental Comics Classroom (ECC), a collaborative online program I created to empower educators and younger students to engage with energy and environmental topics. I was awarded a fellowship and grant from the Kenan Institute for Ethics in 2021 to support the ECC, where I launched the environmental ethics publication “the Anthropozine.” My award-winning work as an eco-cartoonist has been published through the National Science Foundation, displayed at the U.S. Science and Engineering Festival, and endorsed by Stan Lee.
