BlueScope Steel - Infrastructure Project Manager March 2019 - currentA global company that manufactures steel, employing over 16,000 personnel. Role Overview: To deliver a range of projects for NBN Customer Orders division and ultimately reduce the number of calls received by the contact centre, by implementing a range of solutions for customers to self-help. The role reported to NBN Orders General Manager.At the end of this role, I was asked to come back to Telstra and moved to Media cloud division. For more information, please refer to 2nd stint at Telstra in 2018.Core deliverables/responsibilities included:• Define requirements• Root cause analysis• Facilitate workshops• Manage project resources and deliverablesMajor Project: NBN Customer Order SystemTo introduce automation and self-serve capability to the NBN Customer Order System (One TouchPoint) for the contact centre (budget $5 million) with the aim to reduce the amount of calls received by the contact centre given the volume of forecasted NBN orders was anticipated to exceed the capacity for contact centre support. • Introduced customer self-help tools, i.e. URL, chat box and digital IVR for NBN order status checking and booking rescheduling with NBN Co. and Telstra• The self-serve capability supported the increase in NBN orders from 8000 per month to 15,000, an increase of 87.5%• Reduced customer calls to contact centre by 80%• Replaced the digital IVR, configured the call routing and trained contact centre staff during challenging circumstances of an organizational restructure and delivered the project within 3 monthsNotable Achievement:• Received complimentary feedback on format of workshop which encouraged all participants to contribute while also providing a visual to assess the benefits and I.T. complexity of each benefit, NBN Program Manager, Dom Borg, “That was the best business requirements gathering session I’ve ever attended”.

Position: I.T. Project Manager Project: Firewall (hardware) end-of-life (EOL) replacement, budget $7m p.a. over 6 years Managed the firewall replacement program to improve operational reliability, strengthen security and minimise vulnerability threats across 35 countries. Responsibilities and highlights:• Delivered 28% cost savings to the business by reviewing funding with project management team on a monthly basis. Annually completed project within cost and schedule.• Constantly looking for efficiencies, e.g. identified features available in new firewall device and engaging appropriate parties to implement and support.• Managed the timely completion of project deliverables to ensure project success. Chaired monthly video conferences with Steering Committee, comprising of senior level Management based in US, Europe and Asia Pacific.Key Achievements:• Negotiating a change window to suit all parties across multiple U.S. refineries. Overcame challenge by facilitating a series of lengthy negotiations with Refinery Managers.• Developed a risk strategy to manage the (high risk - high impact) hardware upgrade that interfaced with the corporate internet. Established a very detailed change procedure obtaining numerous approvals from the U.S. I.T. business senior management team. • Received an award at project completion for exceeding stakeholder and management expectations in delivering within timeframes and budgets.

Project: Africa telephony refreshment, budget $6m Managed the telephony refreshment program to replace PBX systems with Cisco Voice IP solution in Africa. Responsibilities and highlights:• Remotely recruited and trained technically abled staff to perform the physical rollout of 6,500 handsets to 10 locations across 3 African countries. • Maintained critical path in a region where historically this has been most difficult.• Diplomatically cleared road blocks to ensure timely hardware delivery and project implementation.• Negotiated with African government officials to fast-track custom clearance process for the importation of IP/Telephony hardware. Customs clearance can generally take between 6-12 months however after tactful negotiations, clearance was obtained within 3 weeks.• Managed the high risk of hardware theft (during implementation) by introducing weekly stock audits and restricting and monitoring security access to hardware storage room.• Earned respect of stakeholders through building relationships by working to a ‘no surprises’ policy.

Project: Global Pervasive WiFi, budget $98m Managed the rollout of WiFi to the 55 ExxxonMobil’s core facilities and buildings in Asia Pacific Responsibilities and highlights:• Track Lead responsible for Asia Pacific (AP) region. • Coordinated tasks for AP project team, from gathering information, performing costs analysis and documenting WiFi access points for all facilities and building sitesKey Achievements:• Overcame difficulty in obtaining accurate floor plans for the design of pervasive WiFi for each location (x55, including offices and refineries) for Asia Pacific. When floor plans were obtained, it was evident that they were outdated or of poor quality thereby requiring negotiation with facilities management to arrange prompt floor plan updates.• Worked closely with Cisco to create an optimal design and to avoid access black spots.

Worked in a global team to maintain and support ExxonMobil security network (approx. 800) using Cisco Network Enterprise systems. Analyse IT security threats and make valid recommendations for remediation. Position: I.T. Network Operations Analyst and Team LeadManaged network operations for ExxonMobil South Pacific region, responsible for supporting the WAN and LAN network environments, as well as performing Team Lead role for Network Operations group and maintained data centre services, hardware housekeeping and cabling requirements (data and power).Responsibilities and highlights:• Team Lead for team of 8 members. • Managed more than 140 WAN links using multiple Telco provider, utilising MPLS, Frame Relay, Lease Lines and ISDN technologies• Managed communication rooms for multiple locations, including refineries, plant locations and terminals, nationally, as well as New Zealand and Pacific islands. • Supported the retail network for all banking transactions• Installed hardware to enable existing retail legacy X.25 network to work over Telco network using TCP/IP.• Was engaged (at midnight) to restore network operations during a critical unplanned outage bringing business back online and limiting financial losses.
