Main Activities:Being familiar with the latest international standards and trends pertaining to power transformer.Building customer relationships by attending informal meetings on behalf of the company as well as being the “go-to guy” when it comes to reporting of failures or site anomaliesConducting fault and failure investigations of power transformers in operation by gathering relevant information from sub divisional departments and collating information received from internal inspections, electrical and specialised tests as well as results from laboratory testingDeveloped, revised and implement company procedures , work instructions related to site services and condition assessment of power transformersDeveloped, revised and provided technical training to internal staff as well as external customers in the following fields of interest:• Power Transformer Commissioning – Site Acceptance Testing and non-intrusive maintenance• Power Transformer Insulating Oil Sampling and analysis utilising international standards i.e. IEC, IEEE• Power Transformer Maintenance Training• Power Transformer Protection Components – Testing and MaintenanceIdentifying problems received from customers or internal staff and derive an strategic resolution plan using engineering methods at hand, resolving the matter at hand in as short a time frame as possible even if it requires being available after normal working hours.Provided fleet screening and advanced analysis of transformers installed within the electricity network of internal as well as external customers under company service level agreementsTransformer Condition Assessment – Intrusive and non-intrusive testing and analysis

Maintains discipline specific equipment (protection) on a scheduled basis as allocated by the Resource Management Centre according to discipline specific policies and standards. Main Responsibilities:Diagnose, Repair faults on discipline specific equipment (protection) allocated by Resource Management Centre. Performs standby duties on a scheduled basis. Reacts to equipment failures as dispatched by RMC. Applies fault finding techniques as well as innovative ideas, logic and novel approaches to determine the cause of the failure. Restores and integrates the equipment to functional status. Installs and commissions discipline specific equipment (protection) on a scheduled basis as allocated by the Resource Management Centre according to discipline specific policies and standards. Takes a leadership responsibility for CPM discipline specific work during maintenance, fault-finding, repair and commissioning on major plant and key customer installations by applying advanced skills and experience and leading field work execution. Undertakes and reports on discipline specific customer and special investigations for Customer Services, Zone Management, Network Operations and Support and other stake holders. Acts as mentor and coach for newly appointed CPM staff and trainees. Ensures that drawings are updated, revisions marked up and submitted to Network Engineering and Design group. Ensures that all administration related duties pertaining to the standards, works orders and legal requirements are performed. Performs maintenance, repair, installation and commissioning activities in accordance with safety standards, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and statutory appointments. Conforms to General Machinery Regulations, General Administration Regulations, General Safety Regulations, Environmental Regulations and Driven Machinery Regulations. Responsible for safe work place and resources.
