James is experienced in many aspects of the IT industry. He began his career at an early age learning all the ins-and-outs of how personal computers operate. After discovering his passion for technology he soon learned there was more to the world than building and optimizing PCs. James has always had a passion for helping others leverage technology to benefit their personal or professional goals. Currently, James serves as IT Instructor for the Four Rivers Career Academy (formally the Fulton County Area Technology Center) in Hickman, KY. This position allows him to instruct, inspire, and cultivate the next generation of IT professionals in western Kentucky. Currently, his instructional pathway focuses on Network Administration but he also offers a track in Computer Science (which includes programming and robotics). In addition to teaching multiple course offerings throughout the day, James also serves as the resident "IT expert"; he is the school's Google Suite for Education administrator (Google Classroom, e-mail accounts, etc.) and also manages the facility's local server infrastructure. Students often complete "live-work" projects which include repairing or upgrading PCs brought in from the local community. Students also refurbish used computers to give away to local kids in need as part of their annual Computers for Christmas project. James has also coordinated with local school leaders and a regional ISP to offer Work-based Learning/internship opportunities to area high school students. This collaborative project may also allow students to participate in a regional e-Sports league and earn dual-credit at a local university.James often offers IT consulting and services to local businesses and organizations. His extensive background includes numerous IT certifications and he is always looking forward to increasing his skills by participating in educational/professional development courses.James earned his CompTIA A+ certification in June of 2006 immediately after graduating high school. He has also earned various Microsoft Technology Associate certificates, in addition to the IC3. All of these certifications are also offered to students at the Four Rivers Career Academy that wish to pursue a career in IT.Some of his areas of specialization include: Network Services & Support, Wireless Setup & Design, Networking Infrastructure, Desktop Support (Windows XP/7/10), General PC Maintenance, Basic Web Design/Development, Server Management, IP-based Security Systems, Hardware/Software Repair
