EnBiotix, Inc. is a next-generation, engineered antibiotics company co-founded by Boston University and Apeiron Partners LLC. My role is to establish the Biology scientific strategy and goals aligned with Enbiotix's mission in developing and commercializing the discoveries of our scientific founder, Dr. James J. Collins, the Termeer Professor of Bioengineering in the Department of Biological Engineering and Institute for Medical Engineering & Science. at MIT. He is also affiliated with the Broad Institute and the Wyss Institute..In collaboration with the EnBiotix management and scientific team, my responsibilities include:•Design and implementation of project workflows, resources and budgets, including wet-lab and computational biology projects.•Deciding Biology team scientific priorities and staff assignments. •Guiding design, validation and implementation of primary and secondary screening assays, including molecular, cell-based and in vivo assays to assess potency, specificity, potential toxicity and mechanisms of anti-infective potentiator compounds.•Interacting with investors, partners, key collaborators, KOLs, CROs and vendors.•Advising, and mentoring Enbiotix scientific staff in assay and anti-infective drug development.•Managing IP portfolio, interfacing with patent attorneys and university technology offices

The Molecule Engineering Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Brandes Associates, Inc. TMECO is using a breakthrough approach to computing using Natural Law Computation(TM) methods producing ultra fast, asynchronous, highly parallel systems for TMECO's non-Von Neuman computational machines. The consulting role focuses on advising and developing with TMECO value-driven pharma and biotechnology applications using TMECO's quantum electrodynamic, high performance computing, in silico automated design platform.

Sabbatical - Quantitative Phosphoproteomic Mass Spectrometry

Epitome Biosystems was a VC funded biotechnology start-up, developing quantitative, multiplexed peptide-based immunoassays (EpiTag™) on Luminex™ bead or microarray platforms and MS-based quantitative protein phosphorylation analysis (Q-SONAR™) for multivariate analysis of therapeutics and disease in drug discovery, biomarker and diagnostic applications. Company technology acquired, ceasing operations, by Millipore Corp., and launched as EpiQuant™ Assays on the Luminex™ platform.Managed 8 Ph.D. and 2 M.A. scientists (direct reports), developing Luminex™-based EpiTag™ immunoassay and Q-SONAR™ MS platforms.Provided strategic vision, planning and detailed rationale for Epitome technology development.

Group Leader in Cell Signaling Group, establishing strategic goals and tactical implementation of Platform Biology for drug discovery. Led and facilitated strategic planning workshops for LRL Kinase Summit (~100 drug discovery scientists and managers) and LRL Platform Biology Cell Signaling group.

Project Team Leader for drug discovery and pre-clinical development of kinase inhibitors for targeted therapy in oncology.Co-author on Lilly’s Assay Guidance Manual, reference for assay development and validation used by the NIH Chemical Genomics Center.

Chair, Infectious Diseases Operating Committee responsible for managing Infectious Disease antibacterial and antifungal drug discovery portfolio (10-15 projects) and project resource allocation.Engaged external ID business consultants, organized for strategic product development planning sessions with internal business partners and senior research staff.Discovered and validated essential enzyme in sphingolipid biosynthesis in fungi.

Elucidated mechanism of action of echinocandin antifungal, anidulafungin, out-licensed by Lilly and commercialized by Pfizer for FDA approved treatment of candidemia (EraxisTM, Pfizer Inc.).Lead Biologist, Clinical Development Team, Phase I antifungal drug aureobasidin A (LY295337), in collaboration with Takara Shuzo and Nippon Kayaku of Japan.
