About Justin R.
I have an intrinsic need to be better and provide the safety and security for people to thrive.I've been in the IT and Defense industries since 2008. I have an undergraduate degree in Business Administration concentrating in Information Technology and I'm currently working towards my Master of Science in Information Security Engineering (MSISE) through SANS Technology Institute. I have five GIAC certifications (GCIA, GCIH, GSTRT, GSEC, and GDSA), and am a SANS Security Awareness Professional (SSAP). I’m a member of Infragard and GIAC’s Advisory Board. I have experience investigating using OSINT tools like Maltego, Google Dorks, Yandex, and Epieos and paywalled tools and languages like Kusto Query Language (KQL), Threat Analytics tools (Microsoft Defender for Identity and Cloud Applications (MDI, MDA) and Advanced Threat Analytics (ATA)). I've done Threat Hunting, alert investigations, and Security Awareness (Policy writing, phishing simulations, and risk mitigation) at Microsoft. I'm adequate with PowerShell and Linux and have special interests investigating cybercrime, threat intelligence research, and understanding human behavior. Outside of technology, I'm the commander of a Drill Sergeant company as a Military Police captain in the U.S. Army Reserves, world traveler, and passionate advocate of bridging divisiveness and creating meaningful and deep conversations around difficult topics. I’m also a turkey farmer that has raised approximately 5 million turkeys for the U.S. poultry industry.

Military Police CaptainUs Army Jun 2023 - PresentArlington, Virginia, UsA Military Police (MP) Captain in the U.S. Army is proficient with Security and Mobility Support, Police Operations, and Detention Operations. Responsibilities can vary; but generally, an MP Captain will maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to operations and serve as the Senior SME for all decisions related to Military Police at the echelon they're serving. A "company" has anywhere from a few dozen to 200 Soldiers. It’s a tactical-sized unit that can perform a battlefield function on its own. A company consists of three or four platoons and is generally commanded by a captain. ● Planned operations for Military Police and Civil Affairs Soldiers in a wargaming exercise on a Brigade-Level staff. The average Army Brigade is 5,000 Soldiers.● Conducted multiple investigations for Law and Policy Enforcement inquiries from both Law Enforcement officials and legal counsel. ● Took command of and executed a 3-week mission where we supported Full-Time Drill Sergeants at Fort Jackson, NC with 48-hour notice. Of the 17 respondents, 15 (or ~88%) said they would want to be supported by us in the future. -
