Julie Peller is a visionary leader and seasoned expert in policy development and strategic planning, with a deep commitment to shaping the future of education. With over two decades of experience at the intersection of policy, strategy, and non-profit management, Julie has dedicated her career to driving meaningful change in government and organizations to make postsecondary education accessible and successful for all of today’s students.Throughout her career, and most recently as the founder and executive director of Higher Learning Advocates (now known as the Today’s Students Coalition), Julie brings intentional, strategic direction to advance an organization’s goals. She is most known for her expertise in driving positive change within the higher education landscape and for creating impactful and bipartisan policy change, and her leadership has been instrumental in the development of policies that promote educational equity, access, and success, fostering a postsecondary system that empowers all of today’s students to succeed, regardless of age, income, or background. She is a sought-after speaker, addressing prestigious forums on student attainment, federal policy, and student financial aid. She has appeared on many podcasts and her writing and commentary have been featured by NPR, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, and The Hill, among others. Additionally, she was named one of the 500 most influential people shaping policy by the Washingtonian Magazine in 2023 & 2024. Julie’s educational background includes a master’s degree in public policy from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree in political science and public policy from The George Washington University. She currently resides in Maryland with her husband and two sons, enjoying her pastimes of baking and spending quality time outdoors.
