This is the non-defense side of Faircount publishing, with all defense work now under the Defense Media Group imprint.

Defense Media Network is the new name and website for Faircount Media Group's defense-related publications and web content. I co-author a dozen or more print books each year, contribute to their quarterly "Defense" print magazine and provide articles for their website.

My first major freelance client, I've been on the masthead and in multiple issues each year for nearly two decades.

Provided primarily North American coverage for several Jane's magazines, including Jane's Defence Weekly, International Defense Review, Interavia, Jane's Airport Review and Space Markets.

Based in La Mesa, CA, we produced custom-fit interior window coverings for recreational vehicles, aircraft and boats- Wrote, produced, directed, edited and did voice over for national TV commercial- Wrote advertisements and news releases- Coordinated and ran multiple show and rally demonstrations and exhibits- Negotiated for inclusion in Camping World stores & catalog in record time for a new product- Grew company from three owners and two part-time employees in a 700 sq ft facility to about two dozen full-time employees in a 4000 sq ft factory/office complex in less than one year

Based at company headquarters in Huntington Beach, CA, I coordinated all public relations operations for the space and missiles segment of McDonnell Douglas Corporation at major facilities in California, Colorado, Missouri, Texas, Alabama, Florida and Kwajalein> Helped supervise MDAC-sponsored Student Shuttle Involvement Program experiment that flew on STS-4 in June 1982> Designed logo and handled public relations for MDAC's Payload Assist Module, which boosted satellites to higher orbit from the Space Shuttle cargo bay> Handled PR promotions for MDAC's Solar One in the California desert, the world's first on-grid solar power plant.

During four years in the Atlanta CommCenter, I edited newspaper and broadcast wire copy for seven Southeastern states and helped set up and operate NewsTime, the first audio/video 24-hour cable news channel. Prior to that, I served as UPI Bureau Manager in Tulsa, OK, for nearly four years and briefly before that as a state broadcast and newspaper wire editor in Oklahoma City.
