Vice President, Design Innovation Concepts
JPMorgan Chase needs little introduction, being one of the oldest financial institutions in the U.S, and managing over $2.6 trillion in assets. I worked on an Innovation team, partnering with product owners to ideate around the next generation of Chase’s mobile and web products. We help these teams define their goals, create options for their product evolution, and put early designs to those ideas.
Senior Campaign Manager, Marketing
View is a Silicon Valley startup at the intersection of architecture and IoT. They produce smart windows that tint automatically, or at the touch of a button. My main focus at View was crafting B2B content and executing traditional and experiential marketing campaigns across various company channels. Like any marketing team inside a startup, we worked in an expanded capacity. In lockstep with our executive and product teams we defined branding and tone, crafted product messaging, and framed product rollouts.
Global Campaign Manager, Marketing, Mobile Products
Nvidia is a Silicon Valley based company that builds GPU's powering everything from your streaming devices to your self-driving car. It’s no wonder Nvidia has been named to MIT’s 50 Smartest Companies. My main directive was to highlight the mobile chipsets and the new tablets being released from NVIDIA at the time.To provide more context around my time there, here’s a summary how I spent most of my days: ● Working alongside Product and Product Marketing teams to understand and frame new product rollouts and features in the Tegra lineup (Tegra Note 7, Shield Tablet, and the K1 SOC). ● Brainstorming campaigns to align with those aforementioned product rollouts and feature updates. This meant aligning with APAC and EMEA markets. Campaigns were a blend of digital, event-based, and experiential, all aligned across our internal global marketing teams. ● Executing campaign rollouts, and tracking our results to feed our follow-on campaigns. ● Like any good marketer, I also liked to get my hands into the work of other teams. So, I worked to help develop box art, lent my terrible voice for VO on product videos, and even starred in product walkthrough videos. Favorite work: We made a real crop circle! Need I say more? Ok, I’ll say more. In the lead up to the release of the Nvidia K1 chip at CES 2014, we were tasked with creating buzz around the launch. We decided to lean experiential, and send a secret signal to fans of games and codes everywhere. The execution consisted of a 300-foot crop circle in Salinas Valley with hidden messages tracing back to Nvidia and our new chip. The result was a news cycle about the mystery circle that spanned from the Bay Area to Bangkok, and culminated in our big reveal at the CES presentation a few weeks later. Senior Project Manager, San Francisco Office
IncrediBull was a London-based marketing agency that partnered with worldwide brands to design, develop, and execute creative marketing campaigns. In 2015 they were purchased by Text 100 (which is now Archetype) and to this day I theorize they sold because everyone was distraught by my departure.IncrediBull was a wildly creative place, so everyday was an adventure. Clients between the U.S and UK offices ranged from makeup brands to financial hardware companies. My focus was mainly in consumer technology, with clients including VMWare, Skype, and Nokia to name a few. To provide more context around my time there, here’s a summary of the type of work I tackled: ● Blue sky ideation on marketing campaigns designed to drive awareness, increase customer engagement, and boost sales. ● Campaign strategy development ranging from one-off efforts to extended campaigns. Campaign plans could encompass experiential components, website development, social media efforts, special events, trade shows, or a combination of them all. These plans were often meant to amplify client hardware launches, product lines, or trade show appearances. ● Campaign execution and management, where our ideas became reality. This often meant a combination of digital launches and on-the-ground efforts. I tracked data, tweaked strategies based on feedback, and created post-launch summaries to make sure my clients were always in the know.Favorite work: Helped to design and execute a social media/social good campaign around the launch of the Nokia Lumia 900 at SXSW. The project brought together 50 Twitter influencers, a specific hashtag, and the goal of replanting nearby fire-ravaged forests in the Austin area. The result: landing #2 on Twitter’s U.S Trends, planting 44,000 trees, and putting Nokia in the top 8 “most successful brands and campaigns of SXSW 2012.” Find out a bit more at the links below:
Director
Barbary Coast was a political consulting firm based in San Francisco. In 2016 they merged with Goodyear, Peterson, Hayward to form Lighthouse Public Affairs, and they look stronger than ever. While at Barbary Coast, I worked with a variety of local, state, and national clients to help them navigate the political waters of San Francisco. My focus was mainly consulting, and community coalition building, around land use affairs and public-private partnerships. A few of the clients we partnered with during my time were Google, Wal-Mart, Nielsen Media Research, Habitat for Humanity, Ralph Lauren, and Sports Basement. If you want to know what navigating political waters encompasses, my days mostly consisted of: ● Creating holistic client strategies that encompassed lobbying, coalition building, project alterations, and community benefits in order to maximize chances of project approval. ● Working within the project area to inform neighboring residents and businesses of the value of the project, building trust and rapport, and ultimately working to gain their support. ● Coordinating client and coalition appearances before the San Francisco Planning Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Board of Supervisors. ● Lobbying public officials and private decision makers before project hearings.Favorite work: Contributed to a deal between city leadership, insurance companies, and wealthy Pacific Heights neighbors to allow Icer Air to host a fully-fledged ski jump at the top of Fillmore Street in San Francisco.
