CurrentChildren Rising was founded in 2001 to be a lifeline for children , mobilizing community support for youth in under-resourced urban public schools. Our vision is that every child facing challenges caused by poverty, education inequity and social injustice is reached by a caring community at a critical time in their life to nurture hope, the courage to dream, and opportunity to thrive. Children Rising enables community residents to empower children in East Bay public schools most affected by these challenges and struggling to learn reading and math at grade level. We do this by first raising awareness and rallying community support for the children, and then training and guiding community volunteers to teach, mentor, and nuture the children, so they have a more fair and equitable chance of developing their academic and life skills - and have a more fair opportunity to realize their God-given potential.
