Learning Technologist / Elearning Designer
Leicester, United Kingdom
In this role, I designed and developed elearning products and also advised on the most appropriate use of technology for delivering learning. I managed a Moodle-based project from conception through to implementation. Working closely with subject-area experts, this project required me to take on the roles of course designer, content designer/developer as well as Moodle administrator where I have been responsible for building the project from scratch. The project consists of 8 courses where learning is delivered through a range of media resources including video, photography, flash interaction, and PDF documents; all facilitated through forum-based collaboration and guidance practices. In a recent project, which won a BMJ national award for excellence in healthcare education, I helped to identify and target training requirements within acute kidney injury (AKI). Working within a team of consultant nephrologists, the project started with capturing data using the TurningPoint voting system from 300+ junior doctors, followed by a flash-based learning intervention in response to the results. I was responsible for developing the eLearning and also for technical support. This area has now seen an improvement in the identification and treatment of AKI; improving patient care, freeing up beds, and saving money.
