Senior Planner - Community Planning
CurrentThe Senior Planner, Community Planning will be responsible for leading the delivery of complex planning initiatives and assignments within the City Planning Division. In addressing these responsibilities, the individual will be required to: - Lead and coordinate other planners and support staff to ensure efficient and effective delivery of planning services and contribute to a progressive culture of innovation and excellence.- Analyze complex planning issues, applications and studies, and make recommendations to the Division, the Committee of Adjustment and City Council.- Engage the public and other stakeholders in the planning process and represent the City Planning Division at Community Councils, Standing Committees and meetings with community groups, citizens, elected officials and other divisions.- Develop and negotiate creative solutions to complex planning challenges in collaboration with other stakeholders and champion the city-buildings initiatives.- Represent the City Planning Division on project-specific inter-departmental and intergovernmental working groups and technical advisory committees, including providing information and advice in response to enquiries from elected officials, representatives of other orders of government and/or other municipalities, consultants, stakeholders and the public.- Maintain an awareness of developments and advancements in the planning field in order to provide advice to the Division and City Council.- Carry out special Community Planning tasks, as required.- Prepare for, and act as an expert witness before, the Ontario Land Tribunal or other associated administrative tribunals.
