Many of these students have graduated to have successful careers, making a positive difference in their communities.We believe that education can change lives when built on good values. Our performance-based scholarships help students stay in school by providing financial support when they reach certain academic goals. OurYouthNow Inc. founded in May 2010, is an organization founded by young adults from the ages of 20-24. We look to address numerous issues that affect our everyday lives within the community. Topics that we look to address include gang and drug awareness, environmental issues, and our personal program on teen pregnancy called “Open Your Mind.” Along our programs with the All-American Soap Box Derby competition. For some issues we look to start up our own programs and raise awareness to educate the community, for other topics we will be working together with the community and established organizations to improve and address all concerns. This is our time and the youth needs to realize that we have to step up and be vocal in order to change things for the better. We must also remember our older generations whom we can gain tremendous knowledge from. OurYouthNow will serve as a platform for the all the youth and our older generations to share tremendous ideas, but often feel their voices fall upon deaf ears because they are not represented correctly. We are here today to help Newark grow to its great potential and that growth is dependent upon our youth and the collaborative effort from all generations of life. OurYouthNow has been involved in numerous activities in its short span of existence, activities that range from assisting potential candidates and their incumbents from the Eastward and At-Large Positions, to having Gang and Drug Awareness programs in the Eastward of Newark. OurYouthNow has also been involved with the P.A.P.A organization in an effort to raise the voting importance of registration here in Newark. Our founding team consists of members holding degrees in various fields of study ranging from Environmental Engineer, Public Health, Political Science, Business management, and Criminal Justice, to comprise a team of well balanced views and agendas that will impact the community for many generations to come on the positive spectrum.
