Trained staff, maintained discipline, formulated policy, ensured staff performed their duties. • Led staff to achieve all preparatory tasks for overseas deployment to Kuwait of approximately 3,500 soldiers and hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment and other resources. • Developed and led major initiatives of direct benefit to the Brigade that increased vehicle utilization by an average of 10% and increased availability of personnel by 20%. • Partnered with two local universities for mutual benefit of the brigade and the universities: created a volunteer organization which developed leadership skills of support volunteers and advised on the creation of a Masters program tailored to deployed soldiers.

Ensured training and operational plans were up-to-date and integrated required flexibility in an uncertain environment.• Trained the Battalion to be utilized in an austere environment - to include assessing requirements and planning training strategies to achieve and sustain competence in a variety of environments. • Regularly inspected subordinate organizations for compliance with current plans and held commanders accountable.• Quickly identified and fixed problems requiring remediation – a growing unemployment problem amongst populations of soldiers returning from deployment and a negative recruiting trend. We developed plans which I then led to completion thus positively impacted the problems.

Prepared the Brigade for overseas full-spectrum missions and homeland security missions. • Regularly developed training guidance for the Brigade involving executive guidance, synthesis of regulatory guidance and best practices. Ensured organizational compliance in training, safety and budgeting.• Initiated planning and execution of the largest transformation of the organization in 50 years, planned for and began fielding over 3,500 soldiers on more than 50 items per soldier.• Deployed to Afghanistan as the Deputy Team Chief of a security assistance team embedded in an Afghan Army Brigade.

Under my term the organization increased the number of training events by 100%. - Created a new way of supporting training events by carrying over resources between fiscal years - as a result the group was the only group of 15 to achieve the training goal.- Embraced emerging technology to increase efficiencies and taught my peers how to use it.
