Her responsibilities included all aspects of business development and ongoing management; ranging from initiating successful Client, subcontractor and supplier relationships; to ensuring that the work undertaken and reports produced were of a notable and consistently high quality. Judith was also the technical lead for Scotland, mentoring engineers responsible for geotechnical and geoenvironmental assessment.Covering the whole of Scotland; from Shetland to Gretna and Benbecula to Peterhead, a wide variety of ground conditions were investigated. This busy office undertook an average of 100 projects per annum, for a range of development sectors including; infrastructure, commercial, industrial, residential and schools. Project values ranged from a couple of hundered pounds for half a day of CBR probing and reporting, to £1.4 million for two Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route contracts, undertaken in three concurrent phases during 2007 and 2008. Environmental interpretation undertaken ranged from the proposed reclamation of eight sites near Northwich, previously blighted by subsidence of saltworkings, for public leisure amenity, to recommendations for the proposed construction of an electricity substation on an old domestic landfill.Geotechnical reporting included a variety of sewerage schemes involving tunnel, trenching and dewatering design.
