Export Compliance Manager
Llantrisant
Joined TNT after leaving Civil Service in 2006. Working for an Integrator provided me with the opportunity to gain commercial awareness and knowledge within the Express Industry and Fast Parcel trade sector. Main duties – responsible for training staff (UK Depots/Hubs) on Export process to ensure TNT remained compliant with HMRC policies and procedures eg NES, MOU/Referral process, basics of international trade, in-depth guidance for staff working at exit clearance hubs and, in addition to supporting Operational staff, this extended across the International business to Sales and Customer Service. I was the nominated Export Control focal point for TNT in UK, assisted with Internal Auditing, worked with International sales managers to secure new business/retain business where my knowledge on customs matters (in particular exports) required in-depth understanding of customs procedures and legislation. This was vital to evidence to customers TNT could understand the impact of incorrect customs clearance upon their business ie ensuring Export Licence controls were understood and specific regimes IPR, OPR, Warehousing etc. In the event of errors, I acted as key focal point in the business for Sales and Customer Service in how to put things right ! I regularly liaised with external customers eg representing TNT at Trade Association and HMRC Policy meetings and am responsible for writing the Joint HMRC/Trade Export Best Practice Guide from the Air Industry perspective (as published on HMRC website
