I have worked in environmental research since 1997, studying wastewater and groundwater ecosystems. My current research focuses on the communities (prokaryotes, eukaryotes, fungi and stygofauna) living within aquifer environments. I investigate how these communities interact to purify and remove harmful pathogens and chemicals from groundwater and how anthropogenic pollutants affect these communities. I am proficient in overseeing all aspects of a PC2 laboratory, including lab health and safety, MPI cultures, staff and student training, lab inductions, equipment ordering and maintenance.
