From a very early age I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. A writer. Now my babies have become young children and my young children have become young adults, sigh. I had a love-hate relationship with my retail jobs, but, retail makes the world go round. With Gadzooks, I found a company that really appreciated my selling skills, love of helping people, and building and leading strong teams. The hours were horrendous but the adrenaline rush was addictive when my staff reached their goals. Gadzooks was new to the Northeast corridor of the country and in my two years with them, I had the privilege to recruit, staff, and open nine successful stores between Philadelphia and Massachusetts. In 2000 I left this whimsical company to get married and start on the indescribable career of raising a family.

When I was hired at Edison Brothers (parent company for 5-7-9 Shops) I was beside myself with delight. I couldn't believe how easy it was to open the doors of my store, have people walk in, and all I had to do was help them pick out clothing! I had no idea what I was doing from a logistics and procedural aspect, but my lack of experience paid off. I hired an incredible team and we took that store from bottom five of 300 stores to number one in the company two years in a row and remained in the top ten for my length of employment. I was promoted to training manager, area manager (like district manager junior) and soon became a field consultant for the corporate training office. It was fun, exciting, and four of the best years of my life. Alas, there were changes made in the corporate team that changed the direction of the company and I felt it was time for me to leave. I found Gadzooks and was hired there as District Manager and began a new journey in my career.
