I am Co-Head of the international Finance & Financial Regulation practice group of Bird & Bird LLP. Additionally, I am leading the German Finance & Financial Regulation practice group and I am a member of of the international sector group Financial Services. As a transactional banking lawyer, I am in the legal issues affecting financial and capital markets, both nationally and internationally, and in business and corporate law. I have many years of experience advising on the implementation and restructuring of domestic and cross-border transactions.For many years, I have gained expertise in the Financial Services and FinTech sector. He mainly advises in the areas of national and international financial and capital markets law as well as banking and payment services regulation, and have done so in over 50 jurisdictions.With remarkable knowledge on new and disruptive technologies and the legal issues the respective business models face, I am advising international and national companies and banks with a focus on ebanking, FinTech solutions and mobile banking. For example, I assisted with the launch of mobile HCE-based co-branded credit cards and other payment products with or without loyalty programs. For long-time client MasterCard i am providing legal support of lobbying in legislative procedures. His expertise in regulatory law and the interdependence with digitization made me executive board member and General Counsel of the International RegTech Association (IRTA).On a regular basis, I give presentations at conferences and workshops, recently for example on payment services, innovations in the FinTech, RegTech and InsurTech sector and virtual currencies such as BitCoin.
