I am a mechanical design and product development professional with 25+ years of experience in R&D project work, design tools and processes. I have executed numerous different sized mechanics design projects from front end study to production manufacturing and maintenance. I have worked as a chief designer in large project, coordinating and controlling the work of a group of mechanical engineers and managed outsourced design tasks. I quite enjoy the role of technical lead and tutor but I have never wanted to become a peoples manager in line organization.My long career includes most things R&D engineer will meet outside pure design tasks, PDM/PLM data and BOM management, R&D process development, manufacturing and sourcing support and prototype building both in house and with outside partners, acting as main user and support person for various tools, running thermal and mechanical simulations, just to mention a few.My future goal is to continue the R&D expert career with interesting and challenging projects to execute. On the other hand I feel it might be time to leave more of the detailed design to younger colleagues to solve. I would like to concentrate more on developing things that make projects run smoother and help designers to find the best solutions.
