Generation, development, implementation and prototyping of numerous consumer product mechanisms utilizing gears, cams, magnets, springs and off the shelf components. Components designed for production or prototyping are typically plastic injection moulded, die cast, sheet metal fabrications and/or to suit machine shop practises.Generating 3D data with Pro-Engineer and Solidworks in addition to managing the procurement of full working prototypes with internal and external resources. The application of mechanism joints, cams, gears and motors in Pro-Engineer ensures dynamic clearances and aids mechanism functionality/performance assessment. Preparing and presenting technical documentation to Clients (capturing development journey and/or design intent), Patent attorneys (aiding drafting and applications) and external Engineering expertise (briefing).Hands-on model making is encouraged and have therefore had the opportunity to refresh my workshop skills obtained at University in addition to undergoing CNC training.

Responsibilities and achievements:• Design injection moulded, die cast, extruded and fabricated mechanical components of suitable for the consumer market.• Plan assembly methods and analyze tolerance build up between parts to ensure ease of assembly when parts are at their maximum or minimum limit.• Create solutions to challenging design problems i.e. designed a stand mounted height adjustable speaker interchangeable with minimal number of components for wall mounting.• Proficient in the use of SDRC I-deas (Master series 9, 2000+ hours) and AutoCAD 2000 to produce 3D models and 2D inspection drawings for rapid prototyping and manufacture.• Project management of products through all stages of the development process from concept to production.

Channel Master Ltd UK design and manufacture Low Noise Blocks (LNBs) for domestic Satellite TV reception.Responsibilities and achievements:• Design, testing and approval of cost competitive components for high volume manufacture (injection moulded, die cast and fabricated).• Design, sub-contract for manufacture and test/approve all jigs and fixtures for use in production.• Research, source and assess suitability of unfamiliar manufacturing methods to the market for example the use of extrusions and cosmetic pad printing.• Proficient in the use of Pro-Engineer (up to 2000i2, 2000+ hours) and AutoCAD 14 to produce 3D models and full 2D drawings for manufacture.• Support production and operation teams where necessary.
