At the end of 2018 I rode a bicycle 2200 miles from Hanoi to Singapore after traveling through Iceland, Estonia, Finland and Sicily, eventually making my way back to Hawai'i. Since then I've been supporting myself mainly through a bartending job on the north shore of Kaua'i, but still doing freelance writing, copywriting, and editing on the side. I've written about trekking solo across the Besparmak Mountains in Northern Cyprus, running 100 miles of the Camino de Santiago in three days, and trekking through the mountains of Albania, Montenegro, and Kosovo, among other fun and reckless pursuits. I've recently moved to Bosa, Sardinia, and I'm returning to freelancing full time.

Bartender and server at the oldest restaurant on the island of Kaua'i and one of the busiest on the island as well. Throughout my eleven years at this restaurant, I watched business double, triple, and quadruple and learned and grew with the business. Attention to detail, time management, customer service, and sense-of-urgency were all critical aspects of the job, as well as embodiment of the "aloha" spirit of hospitality that continues in the third-generation of this iconic, family-owned enterprise. My employers here were kind, flexible and accommodating enough to allow me to leave and come back several times over the years as I pursued my writing career and travel adventures.

Researching and writing articles with a focus on sustainable tourism worldwide; generating story ideas and following up with contacts/interviews to create a polished finished product for publication. In this role I reported from an orangutan sanctuary in Borneo, a kayaking excursion in Abel Tasman National Park in the south island of New Zealand, and from an installation art museum on an island in Hobart, Tasmania.

Researching and writing polished, professional product features for subjects as diverse as off-Broadway theater productions and Sonoma vineyards. These features focused largely on specialty high-end spirits, wines, and craft beers, along with products of and relating to the spirits industry. I worked through the WordPress platform in this role and became well-versed in search engine optimization, creating text hyperlinks, and other copywriting skills.
