Industrial designer and research scientist specializing in consumer medical devices, health apps and women’s sports equipment. Founder & CEO of TAP Therapeutics. Inspired by the stories of children with Autism, TAP makes photobiomodulation devices for children and adults with brain disorders. Skilled at user research, literature reviews, and coordinating teams of clinicians, hardware & software designers to design solutions that kids, parents, grandparents, teachers and clinicians all greet with two thumbs up. Before deciding to focus on medical devices I was a professional athlete, user researcher, product designer and design manager for Burton and Roxy Snowboards. I was the lead designer for 3 women's snowboard collections including snowboards, boots and bindings. My role in this process included user testing (hosting focus groups, conducting interviews and side-by-side field testing with customers age 6-60 in the US, Europe and Japan) as well as all aspects of hardgoods design: Creating personas, trend & technology research, color & material palettes, hands-on design of boot patterns in Illustrator; 3D CAD modeling of snowboard and binding components; and art direction for the board graphics. The very first snowboard I shaped as a pro rider at Burton went on to become their all-time bestseller, which is how I got a job in hardgoods. The first women's collection I co-designed with Jen Davis doubled women's hardgoods revenues. In between I was the Senior Product Manager for TVemail, a "mailbox" that turns email into a channel on your television set. My role was managing the industrial design of the set-top box, wireless keyboard and color coded UX. A reviewer from CES called it, "What Web TV should have been: A wireless, modestly priced, entry level email system that anyone can...use." My greatest strength is spotting pain points and designing new products that solve them, whether it's a bestselling new snowboard shape or a totally new platform for treating mental health disorders. To this end I have led the development of over 100 consumer products including hardgoods, softgoods and medical devices/apps.

The collections I designed won two magazine awards and convinced riders like Torah Bright and Kjersti Buaas to drop their board sponsors and ride Roxy (Mervin) boards instead. Torah won her first gold medal in the X Games and Kjersti won a bronze in the Olympic halfpipe immediately after switching. Earned two cash bonuses and a week of heli-boarding as a surprise thank-you gift from the owners.
