I grew up thinking that running 100 miles on the last Saturday in June was completely normal. After all, many of my loved ones took turns doing so every year. And my favorite childhood story about a man "who loved to run with Yellow Dog chasing behind"? Well, I only realized that book was about ultrarunning when my best friend pointed that out in college.Growing up along the flanks of Mt Tamalpias, just north of San Francisco, my childhood was influenced heavily by the time I spent on the trails with my ultrarunning family, and the time I have spent in open space ever since. During my senior year of high school, my distain for endurance sports finally faded as I got on a mountain bike the first time and spent hundreds of miles discovering myself as I chased NICA teammates around that same mountain. These experiences drove me to study Recreation, Parks and Tourism Administration at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. When I received offer to help coach NCAA D1 triathlon in NYC, I realized that my heart was in the grassroots. That lead me to work for the City of Ketchum's Recreation department, connecting local kids to the mountains that we lived in.More recently, I served as the Assistant Director of Facility Operations and Wellness at Southern Oregon University's Campus Recreation Department. Here, I focused on leading facility operations, managing a $1.7 million operations budget and overseeing 20+ student-staff. A 2022 move back to Idaho led me to Boise Bicycle Project as their Event and Outreach Manager, where I have been able to combine my love of cycling and recreational programs by creating inclusive events and working to get the community connected to BBP.
