About Julia Perkins
I am the managing editor of The News-Times and the Norwalk Hour, two daily newspapers in western Connecticut.In July 2016, I started as a reporter for The News-Times, covering various towns over the years, including Bethel, Brookfield and New Fairfield, before becoming the Danbury reporter. In January 2021, I was promoted to associate editor/reporter. I became assistant managing editor in October 2021. I was then promoted to managing editor in August 2022. Soon after, I took over as managing editor of the Norwalk Hour. I graduated in May 2016 from Quinnipiac University, where I majored in journalism and minored in Spanish and English. My senior year I served as the editor-in-chief of The Quinnipiac Chronicle, the official weekly, student-run newspaper at my university. Throughout my four years at Quinnipiac, I was a dedicated writer and editor for the paper. During the summer of 2014, I interned with the Hamilton-Wenham Chronicle, the local weekly newspaper for two small towns in Massachusetts. I have freelanced for the Hamilton-Wenham Chronicle and other nearby local papers during my summer and winter breaks. In the summer of 2015, I worked at Ebsco Information Services as a proprietary content editorial intern. I then returned to Ebsco during my winter break of 2015-2016.
