Good luck in whatever future brings to you!" and "From February till June 2015 Yulia Popova, a student at HAMK UAS, Finland, was an ERASMUS student at Energy Technology Department at Odisee University-College, Ghent. Yulia was doing a project in building/home automation (Domotica laboratory). I was her supervisor and she was the best Erasmus-student I have ever had. She presented herself as very motivated and since ‘domotica’ was totally new for her, she really showed how to master a new subject in a couple of months. Yulia is very studious. When I came with new technologies or systems, she wanted to know all about it. So she studied KNX standard, but went also on her own initiative to a programming training to Crestron Electronics Inc. She also searched for a home automation company to work with and see lab technologies in real working environment and found DOMICA. She spent two weeks there to do a kind of internship. When I proposed to start something new, she was always very enthusiastic. For example, I proposed her to teach for our students a part of her study about KNX and temperature control. So she did a presentation of 1,5h to a group of 40 students with big success! She also worked together with Belgian students during her project and socialized with the Belgian students. This is not evident with Erasmus students because often they search for each other and have less contact with local students. Yulia is very self-initiative. She proved to manage the project alone and find help or information when needed. She can make decisions and do propositions. I gave her tutorials and books in Dutch; even this was not a problem for her as she speaks a lot of languages such as German, English, Russian and Finnish. At last I like to say that Yulia has also a psychological insight in people and is very flexible to work with a variety of people. I’m glad to get to know Yulia.
