I was the Technical Lead for the Navy’s Ship-to-Shore Connector Health Management System. Their SSC is a one of kind Air Cushion vehicle that carries troops, supplies, and vehicles from the hull of a ship through multiple terrains, such as sea, land, marsh and beach, to the shore. The previous Air Cushion vehicle didn’t have a Health Management system so there was no detection or alarms when debris was stuck in the lift fans or there was wear on the ball bearings. I also led the Information Assurance security implementation for the Health Management System.

This was one of the best entrepreneurial experiences of my career with the focus on providing new features for the Digital Addressable TV Controller for Comcast. There was a grass roots effort to move from the current Waterfall development methodology to Agile and we were provided in-depth training on Scrum. This was definitely a paradigm shift for everyone involved, but we were given the opportunity to implement the methodology as we saw fit, and to refine and make adjustments as we saw necessary.

I was part of a small team tasked with developing the next generation Digital Addressable Cable TV Controller from the ground up. Given the Systems Specification and Message Stream Protocol documents, we divided the system into sub-systems, modeled, coded, integrated, tested and fielded the product! It was the first Digital Cable TV Controller on the market and one of the greatest learning opportunities of my career!
