I have CEO level oversight of a busy, co-educational, rural secondary school with approximately 750 students and over 80 staff. I enjoy strategic leadership, mentoring others, and working with staff to create the best educational opportunities for our students. It is also a highlight to see our rangatahi thriving and achieving in a range of sporting, cultural, academic and leadership pathways.

Over the 12 years that I was a Deputy Principal at Dio, I enjoyed a wide-ranging portfolio that included having responsibility for each of the following areas, at various times: * Promoting quality teaching and learning practices linked to the New Zealand Curriculum * Embedding future-focused curriculum opportunities (e.g. PBL, e-learning/flipped classrooms/BYOD)* Overseeing Smart Waikato's Secondary School Employer Partnerships (SSEP) at Dio* Overseeing the success of priority learners (learning support, GATE, Māori achievement)* Supporting the careers programme, including STAR courses, and student IEPs* Raising Māori student achievement and whānau involvement* Supporting/overseeing the Arts* Mentoring a variety of student prefects* Facilitating high quality teacher professional learning and development programmes* Overseeing the provisionally certificated teacher and training teacher programmes* Designing and overseeing teacher appraisal, inquiry and certification processes* Facilitating reflective practice and collaborative learning communities* Supporting members of the middle-leadership team (coaching and mentoring)* Supporting the Specialist Classroom Teacher, the Arts Co-ordinator and the Librarian* Managing events (prize-giving ceremonies, parent/teacher learning conferences, school balls etc)* Contributing to Health and Safety practices; I redesigned the school's EOTC systems in 2016* Having input into property decisions as part of the Property Planning Group* Managing staffing and overseeing the timetabling team and timetable structure decisions* Leading the school in the Acting Principal role

Led a dynamic team of English teachers, managed NCEA assessments, taught four English classes

Started as an Assistant English teacher but also covered Drama and Dance rotation courses. I took on the Assistant HOD English and Literacy Co-ordinator roles in my last year at the school.

I taught English and also had a variety of other extra-curricular roles, including being the manager of both the debating and equestrian teams, and being involved in dance choreography for the productions. I was also on several committees, including the Principal's Advisory Group as a beginning teacher representative.
