I am a medical social worker and interdisciplinary qualitative health researcher who uses research to promote the wellbeing of marginalized communities such as women and LGBTQ+ folks, older adults, people with mental health issues, and non-human animals. I use listening and communication skills to hear others' stories and help them to feel seen, heard, and validated. Compassion, empathy, and critical thinking are values that guide my work. I am also a musician, focused on bringing therapeutic music experiences to older adults in residential facilities. This includes facilitating sing-a-longs, playing the guitar and banjo, and recreational drumming. I am a trained Remo HealthRhythms facilitator.My approach to work--and life in general--is holistic. I appreciate the interconnectedness of all living beings and work to create more healing and less destruction and suffering.
