The definition of leadership is subjective. The age-old question: are leaders born or are they made? There are undoubtedly foundational qualities of a great leader, and I will leave it to you to decide if they are born or made. For me, leadership is a conscious choice that requires daily reflection, self-awareness, evaluation, authenticity, vulnerability, and compassion. Like once, when I gave my team an ultimatum at a sensitive time. It took courage to acknowledge I caused them harm and humility to ask for forgiveness. I can spend time telling you about my strategic whit or brilliant ideas that have led to national recognition and a legacy of community impact. That's not as important to me if I do not love people well in my professional care. While I have moments of ego, I choose to be humble at every turn. I struggle to balance humility and self-promotion, but it's an opportunity for growth.My deepest passion is loving people - from those I lead to the community I serve. Leadership is my calling. It encompasses strategy, business savvy, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and constant learning, along with so many other things like the joys of spreadsheets or budgeting. There is no job too small or big for me. I am devoted to the underserved and under-voiced. I use my perceptiveness, creativity, and analytical thinking to navigate complex challenges to achieve the mission I serve. Presents on the Center at venues across the country, develops strategic partnerships, and handles media inquiries related to the Center and elder financial security and abuse. Creates Center outcome measures and works closely with funders and partners to analyze data, forecast trends and report on Center success. Works closely with the organization’s development team to write grants, conduct site visits, and seek out new sustainability opportunities.
