My research focuses on the modelling of randomness and complexity, particularly across disciplinary boundaries — and with a keen interest in applications. This is at the core of the chair for “Mathematical Modelling[s] & Humanities and Social Sciences” that I have been coordinating since September 2022 at Centre Borelli - ENS Paris-Saclay.--------After Part III / MMath. at Cambridge (2006) and a PhD in Theoretical Physics at univ. Paris-Saclay (2009), I was a postdoctoral fellow at univ. Saarland in Germany within the DFG Exzellenzcluster for Statistical Physics and Complex Systems. In 2010 I started as a tenured associate professor in probability and statistics at univ. Paris 1 (Panthéon Sorbonne). In 2020, I became an Alliance visiting associate professor at Columbia University in New York, and an affiliate professor in the Modelling, Simulation, and Data Analysis programme (now College of Computing) at UM6P in Morocco. I was also a visiting professor and invited fellow at the Chebychev Laboratory and the Steklov Institute in St Petersburg in 2021, before joining ENS Paris-Saclay in 2022, and taking part in the TML programme at the Alan Turing Institute (London) and the SSD programme at the Isaac Newton Institute (Cambridge) in 2024.
