I support community gardens to innovate, build, and thrive!I do this by:- Working with City, board, external and internal stakeholders to increase equitable access to food security.- Grant administration, achieving timely results and developing funding reports for the community development program area.- Taking a collaborative approach to community events for networking and also developing and facilitating workshops using thecommunity education model.- Working in collaboration on business plans, annual budget, donor presentations, evaluations and audits.- Partnering with City colleagues to guide diverse citizen groups through the land approval process, identifying and reducing barriers fordifferently-abled or higher needs groups.- Collaborating with Food Bank and other charity partners to increase donations.

I also run my own consultancy business, providing organizational support to a variety of sectors. I have:- Project managed professional art projects ranging from festivals, concerts, civic events, tours and more. Responsible for logistics, travel itineraries, contract negotiations, auditions and hiring, music arrangement, rehearsals and performer packages. Known as a “go to” for working smoothly with l stakeholders, artists and management.- Implemented organization-wide EDI and GBA+ strategy by planning, developing, and directing strategic and operational efforts to help clients more effectively recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce and increase its ability to support an environment where all people feel included and respected.- Provided consultancy services in a respectful and inclusive style to municipal and provincial agencies on EDI practices in hiring, funding,and performance.- Designed company policies that reinforced diversity in the workplace, addressed all kinds of harassment and protected minority groups in strict accordance with federal and provincial human rights and employment policy and legislation.- Worked directly with clients assisting them in dealing with various issues from risk management to recruitment while defining organizational strategy and short & long-term goals.- Leveraged data to inspire action and drive outcomes across client organizations; evaluated diversity metrics/measurements regularly and communicated progress against plans that reinforced accountability throughout the organization.

I have the privilege of educating future leaders. As part of a job-readiness program, I deliver a course that is referred to as, "the program we all needed but never got" - until now, that is. I help unlock the potential of adult and youth newcomers through culturally-grounded personal leadership strategies. I also:- Develop program area goals, strategies, structure, content, and objectives; customize education curriculum to student needs and readiness level while adopting best practice.- Include a comprehensive inclusion and diversity strategy, with a focus on infusing inclusion in the Centre's external presence.- Nurture a safe and respectful environment for all students to feel valued, respected, supported, and welcomed as fully participating members.- Create curriculum on positive cultural retention, resiliency, anti-racism, pathways to overcome systemic barriers, emotional intelligence, emotional discipline, LGBTQ2S+ and intersectional identities, Black history.- Develop evaluation frameworks according to funding requirements; conduct impact evaluation of program.

As a recruitment consultant, I was part of a great team working closely with community leaders, hospital directors, mayors, reeves, and other professionals to attract & retain healthcare professionals to rural Alberta. My role included:- Producing conferences, recruitment events, med school outreach programming.- Conducting physician onboarding and exit interviews, guided immigrating doctors through licensing requirements.- Implementing the Rural Health Professions strategic direction action plan as a direction for service delivery.- Delivering intercultural competency education and training to towns uncomfortable with doctors from other cultures. - Sourcing candidates at international career fairs such as BMJ (British Medical Journal) and the Irish Medical Careers Fair.

In this role, I put my public speaking, anti-racism training and cross-cultural communication background to good use: - Delivered online training modules for foreign professionals transitioning to the Canadian workplace on hierarchy, cross-cultural and professional communications, Alberta employment standards, human rights, diversity in the workplace, coworker relationships, and strategies for advancement.- Handled sensitive employment concerns and provided connections to social service and mental health supports.

I was headhunted to be a new voice at CBC...then their funding was cut. It was great fun while it lasted! At CBC, I was responsible for:- Developing content and theme for "Summertime" radio series. Pitched content to producers, researched themes, conducted interviews, recorded sound bytes, photographed featured subjects for CBC website, presented story during morning show.

I came into this role with a wealth of knowledge about critical race theory, systemic analysis, and the historical foundations of anti-Black racism. I deepened my knowledge of anti-oppression and cross-cultural communication while there. I had heavy responsibilities that included: - Managing 5 programs, and trained 13 facilitators serving over 80 immigrant and Indigenous youth.- Developing and conducting outreach strategies to relevant community stakeholders and non-profit agencies.- Assisting teams to derive insights from best practices and procedures in all programs to influence policy changes.- Working with funders and BIPOC communities along with Edmonton Catholic and Public administrators to deliver anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion education at 6 school sites.- Advocating for anti-oppressive, anti-racism, and ethical policy implementation.Project management for 5 programs for immigrant and Indigenous youth. - Developing and writing curriculum, proposals and budgets. Producing print & DVD resources, promotional materials, along with marketing and recruitment campaigns. - Acting as official spokesperson for anti-racism focused media requests.
