Field Coordinator

Virginia, United States

Educators Rising is a “Grow Your Own Teachers” program that PDK International is marketing nationally. The program's objective is to support certified teachers and students desiring to enter the teaching field as they navigate the Educators Rising curriculum. As the Connecticut State Field Coordinator, I marketed the program to school districts within Connecticut. I worked closely with districts and their designated teachers who purchased the curriculum. I provided onboarding and program support by guiding them on how to get started and helping them structure how to move from an after-school club to facilitating a credited classroom experience for their students. In addition, I taught monthly Public Learning Community (PLC) workshops geared toward all teachers in districts that had purchased the Educators Rising curriculum. There were two main focuses of the PLC workshops. One was to provide training on the usage of the Educators Rising curriculum, and the second purpose was to provide an arena of support for teachers who were working in the Educators Rising clubs and classrooms as they prepared to teach and train the future teachers of America.Another aspect of the position was to work collaboratively with various members within the Educators Rising community which included district leaders, teachers, and employees from the State of Connecticut Department of Education on annual workshops and conferences geared towards providing opportunities for student networking, and annual statewide and national Educators Rising competitions for the students enrolled in the program.
