In this role I analyzed IR imagery to capture Soybean and Ethanol plant intelligence. I also created automating systems to analyze IR imagery. I published intelligence on the biofuels industry in blog posts and marketing campaigns. I worked with clients to deliver data in their preferred method, whether through Excel sheet, PDF or API. I automated report processes in Python and R. I recreated outdated Matlab code in R scripts. I used Python to connect with Genscape's proprietary API Vesseltracker to generate our Ethanol Exports product. I also connected external weather API to automate updates to a SQL database. Additionally I used SQL to do small-scale database manipulations. I created intelligence on soybean, ethanol, and biodiesel processing facilities. I would scrub government sites to find permits and read through them for any updates on storage facilities. I would write blog posts and tweets about these updates to market our products. I would also communicate with clients when they had questions and create on the fly reports as they requested.

In this role, I calculated the Mineral Rights Tax; I explained to taxpayers and county sheriffs the mechanics of tax regulations. I automated processes to quicken the tax calculation. I created macros and Visual Basic scripts in Microsoft Excel to automate the tax data given to us. I ensured that taxpayer names, addresses, and other identifying data were spelled and formatted correctly. Additionally, I used macros and formulas to calculate tax amounts. I used SQL to manipulate data and do small queries on a daily basis. I spoke on the phone with tax payers who had questions about the process, often individuals who were unfamiliar with the Mineral Rights Tax. I discussed with counties the tax rate and created timelines for the tax collection. Additionally, I worked with the GIS department with small projects. Some involved creating Shapefiles of all houses in a single county. During tax season, I would sort tax returns submitted through mail.

I worked with professors to create assignments and tutor students on class content. I kept up with class lectures and answered students' questions on class content. I kept office hours every week where students discussed class content and other academic issues they were having. In this internship I assessed the value of the Healthy in a Hurry program. Healthy in a Hurry is a program that the Louisville Economic Development Department and the Louisville branch of the YMCA created to addresses food deserts in the city. They gave various corner stores fridges and freezers so they could store meats and fresh fruits vegetables. I used GIS to map locations of stores under the program and the customers who came in. Additionally I collected demographic on the patrons of the Healthy in a Hurry stores. I shared the results at meetings with the Louisville Economic Development Department and a Louisville branch of the YMCA.

Shelby County Family Activity Center

In this position, I taught elementary school students the basics of tennis. I worked with groups of three to six on foot movements, stroke technique, and teamwork. I coordinated with other tennis instructors to develop games and make decisions on what skills were important for children of this age. Additionally, I scheduled lessons and collected all necessary forms and fees from parents.
