Hello! I started my career as a graphic designer and web developer, working at a tee shirt printing shop called Lone Star Printing for about 2 years. After that I worked with Alphagraphics while doing freelance work on the side for another couple of years. Opened my own brick and mortar design shop with an in person sales force and telemarketing department. Ran that for a few years and then downsized it, becoming bored with staring at computer screens and dealing with bugs, hackers and updates. In 2014, after 15 years in web design and marketing I was completely burnt out and, longing for human interaction outside of computers and conference calls, opened a retail space to sell vapes in the small town of Canton TX. The shop became successful within 6 months and over the next few years I opened 2 more in Texas. In 2017 I began exploring opening a 4th shop in Denver and in 2018 that happened.This was around the time I started working with glass. Borosilicate lampwork has been a fascination of mine since that time I have gotten pretty good at it.The events of 2020 had a substantial impact on my business and over the next 2 years I oversaw the closure of 3 stores and returned to Canton.While failing at business is painful, I learned a great deal about myself throughout the process, and this is mostly positive. Some of those things I am ashamed of and take accountability for, while others, such of the events of 2020 bore a crushing psychological affect on myself, my customers and my employees.I was once a bright eyed young entrepreneur, I have become more hawkish, and far less trusting of our government.Anyhow, the story does have a happy ending. This year I will celebrate 25 years with my wife. My oldest daughter has graduated college, my 2 other children are enrolled, and I am happily serving the community here while operating my own shop and blowing glass most days after work.I am blessed, and grateful to my heavenly Father, my family, and my friends.
