As a DacotahGrown Intern for Dacotah Bank, I took part in a rigorous 10 week program designed to familiarize interns with the entire banking structure. During the second five weeks, interns are provided the chance to specialize within certain… Show more As a DacotahGrown Intern for Dacotah Bank, I took part in a rigorous 10 week program designed to familiarize interns with the entire banking structure. During the first five weeks, 30 departments of the bank provide a high level overview of their professions. This included projects, activities and travel to several market branches, including Mobridge, Watertown, and Sioux Falls. During the second five weeks, interns are provided the chance to specialize within certain departments they found interest in. For me personally, I focused on three departments of the bank. A week long trip through Fargo, Rolla, and Minot ND helped me to learn about Business Development Banking. From there, a week in Rapid City, SD to learn about the intricacies of Business Lending. I finished my specialization with a week in Central Credit Analyzation, doing all things numbers, spreads, and ratios. In conclusion of the internship, interns were asked to make a high level overview of their own, to be viewed by the Presidential Council members of Dacotah Bank. The exposure provided by Dacotah Bank during this internship was surreal. Traveling to such unique markets, being hands on with projects and work, and meeting dozens of leaders within the bank provided invaluable professional experience. Show less
