As the Regional Manager for Tech Serv I’m responsible for managing professionals working for several Utilities across 4 states. I coordinate the hiring, placement, and oversee training requirements of 80+ professionals covering a vast area across Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

San Angelo, Texas Area

As a Transmission construction Supervisor my main responsibility at TechServ is to oversee the all of the Transmission Construction Representatives TechServ employs across Ercot region for American Electric Power. I have around 30 Transmission Construction Representatives that I supervise. This includes finding candidates for open positions, reviewing timesheets, customer work orders, proper use and care of company equipment, and various aspects of ensuring our TCRs are aware of customer applications and programs. I am the interface between Tech Serv and some of our clients supervisors. I work with our clients to ensure that they are satisfied with the services Tech Serv employees provide.

San Angelo, Texas Area

As a TCR Justin has many responsibilities. He has been assigned to both substation and transmission projects. He is responsible for coordinating on-site contractor and company crew’s activities. Complete weekly construction status reports. Provide quality assurance and quality control for each project. Implement contractor oversight program for each project. Coordinate material deliveries, on-site materials accountability and material returns. Monitor construction labor costs on a real-time basis to keep costs within authorized amount. Assure work is performed per contract terms and conditions and meets drawing and specification requirements. Assure that the project engineer of record approves any deviations from the drawings and specifications prior to performing the work. Coordinate local communication of contractor caused outages and incidents and notify as needed. Assure FMP drawings are marked up and returned to engineering. Issue project in-service advisories and work order completion notifications.

He works with the regional office by attending Pre-bid Meetings while his duties in the field include overseeing substation projects under construction by managing a crew of 5 to 6 men to successfully complete those projects. Justin is responsible to make sure that the proper materials and equipment are on site when needed. He is responsible for completing daily progress reports, two week look ahead, field directive changes, and expenses reports. He also conducts daily tailgate meetings and plans out the crew’s activities. Meets with owner project managers to ensure quality control of projects.

Austin, Texas Area

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

Responsible for trenching and backfill of the underground feeds on wind farms. Operated track hoe, bull dozer, up to 30T crane, trencher, skid steers, and smaller equipment. Installed cable in trenches, pulled cable through bores under roads and pipelines. Installed cable into transformers outside turbines.

Austin, Texas Area

Installed ground grid, conduit, cable trenches and pull boxes. Erected steel structures, installed electrical equipment, made jumpers and installed grounding. Installed control cable and terminations within control houses and cabinets.

Corpus Christi, Texas Area

Learned basic skills of equipment operation. Worked as a ground hand on an underground cable crew and a substation construction crew.
