Hey there! My name is Justin and I'm a Junior at the University of Rochester studying Chemical Engineering and Mathematics. When I'm not in class, you can find me at the aquatics center lifeguarding, teaching as a math TA, and working to improve the residential experience as an RA.I grew up in a small suburban town right outside of Boston and spent countless summers as a camper and counselor at a small overnight camp tucked away within the beautiful New Hampshire landscape. It was here that I noticed my strong connection to the natural world; I was shown the beauty that the outdoors possesses, and from that point on, I wanted to ensure that the outdoors remained a place for future generations to explore.Flash forward to my Junior year of high school working as a lifeguard at my local aquatics center. It was here that I had my next "aha!" moment, this time connecting my love of science to the world around me. The moment I connected the titrations I'd performed in my AP Chemistry course to the chemical testing I performed while guarding, I realized that the concepts I had studied in class were all around me. From that point on, it was my job to get to the "why" and "how" behind all the phenomena I noticed. As a forward-thinking student, I am driven to find out how we can preserve the beauty found in the natural world through science. One of the most pressing issues of our time is climate change, and I hope to utilize my education to solve some of the problems associated with it, from creating carbon-neutral technology to crafting better energy storage technology. The University of Rochester has provided me with strong foundations in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and engineering, and each day I learn more about my role in making the world ever better through alternative energy.
