I am currently working on self-study through ITPRO.tv and tryhackme.com for cyber security certifications. I am currently a Cellebrite Certified Operator and a Cellebrite Certified Physical Analyzer. I would like to start a career in the cyber security field using the skills I have developed through personal experience. Throughout my life, I have always been drawn to anything technology related. I would always try to take things apart and put them back together when I was a kid. I have always been interested in the latest and greatest tech and wanted to learn as much as I could about new technology. For fun, I have watched videos on YouTube like Network Chuck, made raspberry pi projects, played on Kali Linux, and played with virtual machines. All of my past work experiences have led me closer to IT and cyber security:I worked in the photo lab at Wal-Mart through high school and while earning an associate degree. I had to operate, manage, and maintain the computers and computer programs to print photos for customers. At my next job as a Welding Supervisor, I became very familiar with Microsoft Office programs and Windows.My father and grandfather were police officers, and once I started to have a family, I decided to follow in their footsteps. I went through the police academy at the Law Enforcement Training Institute in Columbia, MO (Mizzou) in 2015. After completing the academy, I almost immediately started working as a police officer in Bowling Green, MO in 2016. After a few years of working as a regular police officer, I started to take an interest in criminal investigations. Then I was promoted to detective in March of 2020. That is when technology really became a passion of mine.Shortly after becoming detective, I started to triage electronic devices for the St. Charles County Cyber Crime Division. I quickly found that getting to work with technology in law enforcement was enjoyable and produced results. Things really started to take off when I started assisting with IT issues at the police department. I would help with the server, adding users and computers to the active directory, solving computer and program issues, mapping drives through group policy, configuring a VPN to connect to the office via mobile computers, and much more.In 2021, my interest in cyber security skyrocketed! Our police department became a victim of a ransomware attack which crippled our department. I started self-studying at that point to understand and developed a passion for learning more. I believe everything has led me to my desire towards cyber security.
