I'm a fourth-year student at Virginia Tech majoring in Mining Engineering and minoring in Physics, Astronomy, and Geoscience with a cumulative GPA of 3.82. I have spent two summer sessions and one winter session as a Test Lab Intern for Metso Outotec. I spent a summer as an operations intern with Boxley. I was formerly on the structures subteam for the NASA-sponsored Martian Subsurface Analysis Team at Virginia Tech, I have led a team for the NASA-hosted BIG Idea Challenge, and I have research experience at the Virginia Tech Mining and Minerals Engineering Research Lab.As engineers, we strive for innovations that provide positive change for the people and the world around us. The mining industry is no different. It is my goal to help drive the minerals industry to new heights. The rapid development of space technologies promises new horizons for many fields. The mining industry is in a unique position to take full advantage of these changes in the coming decades. Extracting resources from extraterrestrial bodies will be necessary to create a permanent presence, and eventually a resource-driven market in space.
