I approach design from a firm belief that the built environment can represent a substrate for a beautiful symbioses between the realms of human culture and natural ecosystems. Urban environments can be designed to enhance regional biodiversity through creative attention to soil communities, plants, and the materials that support a functioning ecosystem, while at the same time creating genuinely vibrant places for people and communities to thrive. I am fascinated by the potential to use innovative materials and systems design to harmonize landscape performance for as many living communities as possible in a way that is sustainable and practical.
