Responsible for designing complex cloud solutions for both internal and external client projects. Help guide junior and senior level solution architects during projects and provide overall technical leadership to ensure excellence and quality of delivery.

Implemented and leading the effort to integrate a self-hosted, privacy & GDPR focused metadata analytics platform within our internal infrastructure. This included research and recommendation on cloud architectures to handle both ingress and internal application scaling. Additionally, and with a focus on client privacy, working with multiple development teams to integrate custom metadata tracking into key areas of our applications.Leading the effort within our engineering organization with regard to containerization along with orchestration within our cloud architecture. This has included the internal promotion of design patterns, best practices, and building out procedures for current and future microservice development. Part of this effort has included working heavily with our internal systems engineers to build out an orchestration platform that works not only in a local development environment but at every step of our development process to production.Current efforts include architectural projects focused on increasing scalability and overall application performance.

Managed two teams responsible for four separate products within Backstop. This included Outlook Add-In, Excel Toolkit, Backstop Mobile, and our new React Front End framework & UI architecture.Job responsibilities included building and following standards, patterns, and best practices for writing clean SOLID code and following an agile development process that evolves with the team. From a technical perspective, I regularly worked with the team reviewing & building architecture patterns to solve many of the technical challenges surrounding each of the four products with which the teams were responsible.As a people manager, I worked to make sure that those who worked for me received bi-weekly one on ones. I assisted in technical mentoring as well as helped each developer build a personal learning program. I felt my main goal was to try and remove any roadblocks that stood in their way so that they could do great work.

As the captain of our office products & mobile application team. Assisted in building standards, practices & and procedures for our agile development process. Performed bi-weekly one on ones with other members of the team and assured that there were no roadblocks standing in the way of team progress.

Assisted with the transition of the CMS product into the Backstop ecosystem after the acquisition. Was a key leader of our mobile application team from inception to our initial release within three months. Defined the application architecture using Angular JS and Apache Cordova. And worked alongside several team members building out the application and guiding design. Worked on our Outlook Add-In and Excel Toolkit products. Helped rearchitect many internal pieces of the codebase, making it easier to maintain and add additional features moving forward. This included a completely new UI written in WPF.

As a weekend warrior I,- Migrated from Angular 6 to 9+. Implemented new UI/UX along with standardization of Angular best practices. This included splitting the application in to well defined modules and lazy loading on demand to improve first-time interaction responsiveness.- Split mono repo into backend API and frontend SPA allowing independent versioning of client and server.- Migrated the frontend to a CDN static HTTP file hosting to boost frontend performance during bootstrap process.- Implemented full CI/CD from code commit to deployment and propagation from dev to beta to production. - Migrated API to docker and then to the cloud. The Novlr API now auto-scales up and down based on load and has been designed with loose coupling in mind to allow for future microservice development. Implemented strategy of principal of least privilege for all services and cloud functionality. This work led to significant cost savings in the cloud.- Performed regular MongoDB updates and maintenance.- Designed and built an archival novel analytics caching architecture which led to improved performance for users viewing novel writing stats.- Assisted in future product planning with CEO & team.- Became friends with some really cool people across the pond.

Contributed to the following projects Analytics, Risk Plus, Portfolio, CMS 7, CMS 6, CMS Mobile, P-Card Web, P-Card Reader, P-Card Generator and several Internal Systems Projects. Designed the architecture for our CMS Mobile and Risk Plus applications. Responsible for relocating and transitioning our CMS platform from the London engineering team to our team in Reno.
