A strong news sense and deep knowledge of the media runs in my family. My father's remarkable 50-year career journey as an Associated Press editor sparked my passion for visual storytelling starting at a young age. My brother and I grew up watching firsthand what it's like to work with reporters and editors to shape stories in text, photos, and video for national and international audiences. I learned everything about broadcasting television from a mentor who enrolled me in a local cable access station, developing my editorial skills by taping major sporting events at my high school that I would later edit and broadcast live to tape. To this day, every editing project I work on reminds me how there is so much I still need to learn.I leverage my 20+ years of leadership experience as Managing Photo Editor, North America Sport for Getty Images. My work intersects video, photo, digital, and print across 3 different verticals: news, sport, and entertainment. I am accountable for leading and managing a cross-functional team of staff editors and freelance editors, overseeing all editing operations for global high-stakes events, including Olympics/US trials, NHL Stanley Cup/playoffs, MLB World Series/playoffs, NFL Super Bowl/playoffs/full season, Oscars, Met Gala and Presidential Debates/Elections/Inaugurations.My leadership principle is centered on 3 pillars: delegate effectively, harness the power of kindness, and practice active listening.I believe effective delegation empowers team members to make better decisions. I value the importance of active listening as a core communication skill for effective leadership. Leadership is about being able to simultaneously know when it's time to listen to your team to make timely decisions, even in the midst of challenging times. I always strive to be a source of inspiration and encouragement to those around me. The secret to my success is harnessing the power of kindness in a way that maximizes collaboration through productivity and efficiency and creates a ripple effect, inspiring others to act in the same way. Learning to be comfortable with discomfort by embracing change is another essential skill to live a truly fulfilling life. I believe success and failure are choices we make based on our values. In addition to my hands-on work, I earned my Bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport. When I'm not working towards meeting editorial deadlines, I enjoy having a great day taking photos and watching/playing football and rugby in my spare time.
