Justine is a mission-driven leader with experience solving complex problems across corporate and non-profit spaces. She is currently the Assistant Secretary of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Justine implements the Governor and Secretary of Education's vision to restore excellence and close K-12 achievement gaps in Virginia. Prior to working for the Commonwealth, Justine was the Deputy Director of Education at the George W. Bush Institute, where she identified, evaluated, and executed high-impact strategies to advance local, state, and federal policy that improves student learning and ensures all young people have access to quality education. Before joining the George W. Bush Institute, Justine was a management consultant at Sense Corp, where she focused on designing transformative operational strategy improvements and optimizing data systems to increase profit and enable future growth. Prior to Sense Corp, Justine completed Teach For America, where she taught high school math, significantly surpassing the district’s average end-of-course passing rate, was asked to be the Math department chair after her second year, and supported her students outside of the classroom as a volleyball and softball coach.Justine is passionate about quality education, academic outcomes, and career and economic mobility. She excels at project management, driving teams to higher outcomes, and is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and organized, but can also think strategically and develop a long-term vision.
