About Justin Armstrong

When you hear the term “knuckling down” it would best describe my work ethic. If you need someone to just put their head down and get the job done, then I am your ‘go-to’ guy. Some core strengths include my honest, hard-working, and innovative nature. I also get on with all types of people and know to motivate them to complete their tasks. For example, my first project at Barloworld was an approximately R20 million IT/Communications project requiring the removal of their old telephone system and coming up with a plan to install a new IP PABX, that not only had the benefits of a local PABX but could also operate as a cloud PABX for the group. In layman’s terms, the group wanted to have their cake and eat it. I had a project and operations team I didn’t know, an environment that was new to me and 4 major companies from the Barloworld Motor Group expecting to be kept operational with as little disruption as possible throughout the project. Despite these parameters I was able to deploy and maintain the PABX reporting to all executives as well as fulfil the brief given to me - for which I won an award at the end-of-year function the following year. During my stay with the group, I also grew through the ranks within the organisation, receiving 3 promotions (apart from annual reviews).Other than the skills mentioned earlier, I believe my growth could be attributed to my positive attitude and commitment to the role I am given. I love developing people and myself and this is a driving force within myself. I am not scared to lead or to be led and try my best in both positions.I am however also a simple person and don’t consider myself better than others. I have a high EQ which makes me reasonably easy to work with and manage and my leadership style generally equates to staff having someone they can rely on and look up to. My morals are an important part of my life. I believe that your life needs to reflect who you are, whether in a work or home environment, and as such I will never bring any organisation into disrepute or embarrassment. My family and beliefs are my core and my rock. I am fiercely loyal!
