In addition to my existing responsibilities, I was charged with managing and mentoring two junior developers, as well as helping my manager (the ABACUS Enterprise development lead) coordinate our team and maintain various aspects of ABACUS Enterprise (help documentation, accessibility recommendations, general product up-keep). I also began spending a lot more time reviewing and critiquing the development work of others, particularly complex features that required extensive codebase knowledge. My primary focus was coordinating the development of diagramming functionality and user interface redesigns, resolving complex bugs, and deep diving into accessibility compliance.

I worked with React (TypeScript), .NET (VB, and C#) to work on features, enhancements, and bug fixes for Avolution's software products (primarily their web product ABACUS Enterprise and the REST API). I started out with improving security and expanding the diagramming capabilities in ABACUS Enterprise. As I gained experience, I ventured into other areas such as improving accessibility (for ABACUS Enterprise in particular), investigating/addressing performance issues (mostly via logic optimisations), and maintaining the codebase (with dependency updates, and the incorporation of ESLint and Prettier). Part of my time was also spent interacting with clients and implementing custom functionality for Avolution's software products.

Building on what I did as a U:PASS Leader, I assisted in guiding & training new U:PASS Leaders and bridging the gap between staff and students for a better learning environment outside of U:PASS.

Through interactive workshops, events, and employability hours, I endeavored to improve my confidence in navigating the recruitment process as a whole. I also identified and leveraged the skills, knowledge and experience I have & can gain to aid my professional career.

I helped lead the U:PASS student learning program, as part of promoting a deeper understanding of course material through active learning and engagement (leading U:PASS in Mathematical Modelling 2 and Database Fundamentals). In my sessions of 4-10 students, I make sure that I create a comfortable environment for students from all backgrounds, so that no one is left out.

With my team of 5, I helped provide pro bono management consulting services to startups and small businesses, helping them overcome their toughest challenges. We were supported by society executives & guided by representatives from major professional firms (Strategy&, Deloitte & A.T. Kearney). Making use of creative problem-solving and effective communication, my team achieved 2nd place in UTS Consulting Club’s Consultant Cup.
