I studied novel approaches for products and processes based on furnishes that contain chemical pulp fibers, microfibrillated cellulose, and Calcium Carbonate. The focus was on the dewatering (mainly wet pressing) and the material characterization of the resulting composite papers. The main result of my research was the realization of a new range of potential products by using fibrillated celluloses in composite products, and proving their manufacturing potential even in large scale web-based production.During my Doctoral studies I also instructed 5 Master's Theses, most of them conducted by international students. Presenting the results of my research in international conferences and other scientific forums were also an essential part of my work.

Master’s thesis work on the subject “Construction of a Single Bar Refiner”. As a result of this work, a new kind of laboratory scale refiner station was designed and constructed. This equipment enables studying of micro scale phenomena that take place during low-consistency refining of chemical pulp. Research work related to the Single Bar Refiner –project including development of the laboratory refiner.

Project leader, assignment in improving the quality of adhesive laminate paper. Improvements in decreasing the amount of waste produced the laminate paper process was achieved as a result of the project. Another task was collecting the company Key Performance Index (KPI) data for the management group.
