I love solving problems in creative ways using technology. Building scripts or templates for routers, I find a way to solve the problem. Always striving for more knowledge, I work from a Panera café prepper, to a network analyst, and now a software developer. I love working with code and all the network hardware. I don’t know if I could choose one that I like more. I started working with python to find discrepancies in the network. Tired of hand jamming through row after row of excel sheets. I wrote a clunky, buggy piece of code, that broke all the rules, but it worked enough to get me hooked. I started writing more code, building a toolbox to create scripts quicker. I wanted to make the NOC more efficient, and they continue to still use my scripts.Working in the NOC for 4+ years and software development for about a year, I learn several Cisco routers and Cisco switches. Building and maintaining configurations, working with DHCP, BGP, TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, WAN, Wireless, VLAN, etc. I learn a lot about networking. Monitoring with SolarWinds, writing tickets and documenting in ServiceNow, and working with clients to resolve their issues quickly. In software, I work in an Agile environment with Jira, Git, Java/Spring, python, angular, and SQL.I am a network guy who likes to code as well. Reach me at john.richardson@jvrdev.com
