As part of the NSEM management team, I provided emergency management services to three municipalities. My portfolio included emergency management leadership to the NSEM staff and municipal partners, collaborating with colleagues across all levels of government to advance community resilience and disaster risk reduction initiatives, developing and maintaining municipal emergency plans, and leading strategic planning for NSEM. In addition, my team provided around-the-clock emergency response and coordination services, managing and maintaining the North Shore Emergency Operations Centre. I was responsible for scoping and developing the North Shore Resilience Strategy, North Shore Evacuation Plan, Disaster Debris Management Plan, and Guidelines for Resilient Public Buildings.

I was hired with Integral Group to help the District of Squamish develop a Low Carbon Incentive Program to encourage construction of buildings that do not rely on fossil fuels for heating and cooling. The strategy reduces permitted density in select residential zones by one third for buildings that use high carbon energy sources, but allows buildings to achieve the full density if they only use low carbon energy sources such as baseboard heaters, heat pumps and electric hot water tanks.
