About Jym Varnadore

Jym Varnadore brings over forty years of drafting, 3D modeling and BIM/VDC experience to the table.After his time in the US Navy, Jym went to school to become a drafter, picking up his first job before graduation from tech school. Starting with pencil on vellum, he began learning HVAC and Plumbing drafting and design in the early 1980s.Time spent in the field, creating submittals, shop drawings, RFIs and as-builts prepared him for this next employer, a Mechanical Engineering firm, where he learned HVAC and plumbing design under the wing of senior engineers..As times and technology changed, Jym was the first person in his company to begin using AutoCAD – back before Windows was created! Basic AutoCAD skills included sheet set management, block creation, title blocks and viewports. 2D turned to 3D and Jym followed along, building his skill set to include coordination, clash detection and resolution..By now, Jym was leading the CAD department for a large HVAC firm. Leading the coordination process became the norm for him. He started giving other CAD team members direction and thus began running his own projects.Today he runs the Southern California office for TechnoStruct. His duties include quality control reviews, overseeing model creation, leading the coordination process and ensuring a quality product for the Owner on his projects.Specialties: Virtual Design/Construction, Building Information Modeling, Collision detection and resolution, Determination of existing and as-built conditions and constructability reviews.
